Breast Lift With Implants

When you wish to enhance your breast size, but your breast skin is too loose or saggy, you may not benefit from breast augmentation cosmetic surgery alone. Similarly, when you are seeking a perkier and firmer breast appearance, but your loss of breast volume is significant, you may not benefit from a breast lift alone to attain a natural and youthful look of the breasts.

In these situations, your surgeon may recommend you to choose breast lift with implants plastic surgery. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will explain to you the procedure steps involved in this surgery. Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast lift with implants to patients in Dallas, Texas and surrounding locations.

Procedure Steps

Breast implant with lift is usually a more elaborate plastic surgery, which should only be performed only by a skilled and experienced breast surgeon. The procedure should be undertaken at an accredited surgery center or a hospital that is equipped for these procedures.

When you are taken into surgery room, you will be placed under general anesthesia so that you remain in deep sleep during your surgery and have no recollection of the procedure when you wake up. A qualified anesthesiologist will perform the anesthesia and may remain present throughout your procedure to monitor your response.

Following the placement of anesthesia, your surgeon will begin the procedure by creating the incisions in discreet, pre-determined locations as per your customized surgery plan. If the incision is placed around the areola edges, a second vertical incision will be placed from the lower part of the areola to the fold of your breast.

Through these incisions, your surgeon will place silicone or saline implants over or under the chest muscle as per plan. She will then use the same incisions to remove excess breast skin and tighten your breast tissue in order to gently lift your breasts and provide them a youthful look.

When breast augmentation and lift are performed together, it is usually necessary to raise the position of your nipples and areolas to a new level to create a natural look. The complete procedure may take anywhere from 90 to 150 minutes to accomplish.

Closing the Incisions and Next Steps

Once the surgery is completed and the implants have been adjusted into the desired position, your surgeon will close the incisions with removable or dissolvable sutures. Temporary drain tubes may be placed underneath your incision sites to collect excess fluid.

Once you are woken from your anesthesia, you will be moved to a separate recovery area where your initial condition will be monitored for a few hours. You can expect to return home the same day after your breast augmentation with lift surgery.

The breasts will be wrapped in bandages initially, and will eventually be replaced with a special surgical bra. You will need to use this bra for a few weeks as per your surgeon’s instructions. Determining Your Cosmetic Goals

When you are considering breast lift with augmentation plastic surgery, you should begin with evaluating your reasons for seeking this surgery. Only you are in the best position to judge what makes you unhappy about your natural breast appearance, and what your innate aesthetic needs and goals may be.

Breast augmentation with lift cosmetic surgery is a personal journey for a woman, and you should not choose it just because someone else told you to do so. Be completely clear about your personal needs and goals, and learn about the pros and cons of the procedure as much as possible before and during your initial consultation with the surgeon.

Meeting Candidacy Requirements

Your surgeon will evaluate your candidacy before recommending breast lift with augmentation surgery. You should focus on maintaining good health and fitness, eat a balanced diet, and maintain stable weight as far as possible. You should also not have any near-future plans for a pregnancy or a plan to undergo a major weight loss.

These developments can disrupt the results achieved through your cosmetic breast procedure. To form realistic expectations about your procedure, you should carefully review breast lift with augmentation before and after pictures at your surgeon’s office.

Participate in Online Discussion Forums

Once you have chosen to visit the surgeon’s office for a breast lift with implants consultation, you should take out the time go through their practice website to learn about the procedure as well as the surgeon’s background. You may also visit specialized online forums such as RealSelf to read about the experiences of other women who have already received this combined surgery.

When you learn about the actual experiences of other patients, it will help you gain confidence about your own decision. If you meet your surgeon with adequate prior understanding and clarity about the procedure, you can have a more productive consultation and make better decisions.

Prior to the Surgery

The following steps should be followed prior to the procedure in consultation with your surgeon:

  • Avoid the use of blood thinning and anti-inflammatory medications, as well as certain vitamin and herbal supplements for a few weeks before the surgery.
  • If necessary, adjust the schedule of certain prescription drugs, as per the surgeon’s recommendation, in consultation with the prescribing doctor.
  • Avoid smoking for a few weeks prior to the surgery as advised by your surgeon.
  • Arrange for post-surgery transportation to return home and, if necessary, arrange for your aftercare for your own safety and comfort.

Breast Lift With Implants Plastic Surgery Risks And Safety

Breast Lift With Implants

When you work with a highly qualified and experienced plastic surgeon, your risk of complications is minimized for procedures such as breast lift with augmentation. However, certain risks are still inherent to every surgery, and some implant related specific risks are also associated with breast augmentation with lift surgery.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast lift with implants to patients in Dallas, Texas and surrounding locations.

Surgical Risks

Infection

Following a breast implants with lift plastic surgery, a few patients may develop symptoms such as abnormal redness and inflammation in the incision sites, persistent pain, pus or fever, or skin that is warm to touch. These could be the signs of an infection, and you should see your surgeon promptly.

Hematoma

Hematoma or excessive bleeding may occur in some cases after breast lift with augmentation cosmetic surgery. A committed surgeon will carefully review your medical history and take appropriate steps to minimize this risk. You should be prepared to follow the surgeon’s pre-op instructions and avoid certain medications and supplements to reduce this risk.

Adverse Anesthesia Reaction

Despite the pre-surgery assessment, in rare situations, an adverse reaction to anesthesia can happen during your surgery. This risk is higher if you are suffering from certain underlying health issues. An anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist will be in attendance during the surgery to monitor your condition and manage your risk of complications.

Altered Sensation or Numbness

Breast lift with implants may involve repositioning of your areolas and nipples. This can cause temporary numbness or change in sensation in the incision areas. In exceptional cases, this change may be long lasting or permanent. But for most patients, this temporary condition will resolve by itself over time.

Implant Risks

Placing of breast implants is a key part of your breast augmentation with lift surgery. This creates its own unique risks.

Capsular Contracture

As the implants are placed inside your breast tissue, your body’s natural immune response will trigger the formation of scar tissue around the implant. This scar tissue can sometimes contract or harden, which can result in discomfort for some patients.

If the scar tissue tightens excessively, it will squeeze the implant shell, causing it to get damaged, misshaped or shift away from its position. In these cases, your surgeon may have to perform a breast revision procedure.

Implant Rippling

In some cases, the amount of skin available in the breast area may be limited, but the implant size may be much larger. This can cause the implant to develop creases or folds, resulting in a rippling effect on the surface. In some patients, this can affect the natural aesthetic appearance of the breast.

Implant Shifting

In a few cases, the silicone or saline breast implant may move from its original position at some point after the surgery. With larger sized implants, the risk of displacement may be somewhat higher. Female cosmetic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan receives patients from Dallas, Texas and nearby areas for breast lift with implants surgery.
