Consultation Process for Out of Town Patients

Patients from out of town who seek a plastic surgery procedure at Khan Plastic Surgery can have the patient forms emailed to them. You will also be requested to send the images of your areas of concern. Try to ensure that the photographs are clear and taken from both front and side view. You can email these photos to the patient coordinator. Following these submissions, the patient coordinator at the surgeon’s office will set up your virtual/phone consultation with Dr. Khan.

This will be a detailed consultation, and you should be prepared to ask any questions and clear all your concerns and doubts from the surgeon. If you are able to visit separately for this consultation, Dr. Khan would prefer to meet you in-person. Based on your consultation, the surgeon may require you to have some medical tests and routine blood work prior to the procedure. Any adjustments to your customized surgical plan may be done based on the results of these tests.

Skin Rejuvenation Treatments And Procedures

shutterstock_69719203-e1580879668574-300x274 Skin Rejuvenation Treatments And Procedures Dallas Plastic SurgeonSafe and proven non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments are available today that can produce fairly dramatic and long lasting results. If you want to avoid cosmetic surgery and yet achieve a smoother, more youthful look, you may consider innovative procedures such as Venus Viva

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides Venus Viva for skin rejuvenation to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding communities.

What is Venus Viva?

Venus Viva can help you achieve smoother, healthier skin by reducing signs of skin damage, including scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks, wrinkles, rosacea, and any other skin conditions that affect your skin’s texture. Venus Viva is a fully customizable treatment and is a safe, FDA-cleared procedure for skin resurfacing.

Venus Viva combines SmartScan technology and NanoFractional Radio Frequency (RF) in a single system for skin tightening, anti-wrinkles, for soft tissue ablation, and skin resurfacing. Radio Frequency (RF) generates heat to make skin changes, stimulates the collagen and the elastin, and also encourages the fibroblast production to remodel the skin tissues.

How it Works

Skin resurfacing with Venus Viva is performed using tiny pins that will deliver controlled heat through nano-fractional RF (radio frequency) into the deeper tissue. The pins will create tiny micro-dermal wounds on the surface, which will heal on their own.

This skin renovation process will repair the visible signs of skin damage on the top surface. The wounds created in this process are so small that you will only experience minimal discomfort, while achieving significant results.

Depending on your skin condition and personal goals, your Venus Viva treatment provider may add the DiamondPolar application to your treatment plan, which will further improve the aging lines. DiamondPolar device is based on multi-polar RF and pulsed electromagnetic fields to generate uniform thermal heat beneath the skin surface.

This process will trigger the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, which will add volume to your skin from within, and produce naturally firmer and younger looking skin appearance. Venus Viva treatment has the unique ability to treat a larger surface area and address multiple skin imperfections at the same time.

One treatment session with Venus Viva can be completed in about half hour, while you may have to undertake three to four treatment sessions on average to achieve your cosmetic goals.

Recovery and Results

Downtime is only for 24 hours post-treatment (or up to 5 days for more aggressive treatments). Your skin will be red and for the first 24 hours. After 24 hours, you may put on makeup and resume your regular skin care routine. Venus Viva skin rejuvenation treatments deliver similar results as laser skin resurfacing, but with reduced discomfort and lower downtime. Venus Viva is also safe for all skin tones.

You can expect superior results compared to superficial treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Results are safe and predictable even when Venus Viva is used to treat sensitive areas of your skin because the RF energy is mild in intensity.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan receives patients from Dallas, Texas, and nearby areas for innovative and advanced skin rejuvenation treatments such as Venus Viva.

Breast Implant Exchange And Removal

shutterstock_107648318-e1580879023900-300x281 Breast Implant Exchange And Removal Dallas Plastic SurgeonWhile you cannot expect your breast implants to last for a lifetime, most women can benefit from breast augmentation without any trouble for many years. But breast implant removal or exchange may become necessary at some point in the future. You should be aware about the possibility of breast implant exchange or removal when you make a decision to go ahead with your primary breast augmentation surgery.

Breast implant removal involves no replacement with new implants, and in such case, the surgeon may have to perform an additional cosmetic surgery procedure called breast lift to restore the original youthful appearance of breasts. But for many women, breast implant exchange is the procedure of choice where the old or damaged implants are replaced with new ones.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast implant removal and exchange to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Candidates for Breast Implant Removal or Exchange

You may consider breast implant removal or exchange surgery, if you have experienced one of the following conditions.

Leakage of Implant

If your original saline or silicone implants have become leaky because of a rupture or damage, they may be deflated. This will necessitate breast implant removal or exchange.

Desire to Change Implant Type or Size

Following a change in your cosmetic preferences, you may want to switch from saline to silicone implants, or from silicone to ultra cohesive silicone implants. In some cases, women may want to switch from silicone to saline, if they are worried about breast implant illness.

If you want to change breast implant size because of changed needs arising after a pregnancy or weight fluctuations, you may consider breast implant exchange cosmetic surgery.

Capsular Contracture or Implant Shifting

If excess scar tissue forms around your implants, it may result in capsular contracture. You may feel tightness or hardness of the implant, or even implant rupture may occur. In some cases, the original implant may move away from its position or lose its shape. Breast implant removal or exchange may be necessary in all these situations.

Incision Placement for Breast Implant Removal/Exchange

Your surgeon’s first goal will be to use the original surgical scars from your breast augmentation surgery to remove or replace the implants. But depending on the surgical technique, the incisions may be placed in multiple locations.

In case of implant exchange, the surgeon may decide to place incisions in discreet areas such as the breast crease, around the areola, or in the armpit. This will conceal the subsequent scarring to a significant extent.

Procedure

Your breast implant removal or exchange surgery will be performed using general anesthesia at an accredited surgery center or hospital. Depending on the technique involved, your procedure may last from one to two hours.

Following the implant removal or exchange, your surgeon will close the incisions using sutures and provide you a supportive bra, which you will have to wear for several weeks post-surgery. Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan receives patients from Dallas, Texas, and nearby areas for breast implant removal and exchange surgery.

Tips For Choosing The Best Dallas Rhinoplasty Nose Surgeon

shutterstock_92376865-300x200 Tips For Choosing The Best Dallas Rhinoplasty Nose Surgeon Dallas Plastic SurgeonRhinoplasty is a seemingly minor but highly intricate cosmetic surgery procedure. Patients should ideally seek a nose surgeon with proven expertise and several years of experience for this surgery. A skilled and knowledgeable surgeon will be able to achieve the desired nose shape and size while maintaining the harmony and proportion of the overall structure of the face.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides nose reshaping surgery to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding communities.

Why Choose a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon?

When the patients select a board certified surgeon for a complicated surgical procedure such as rhinoplasty, they have an assurance that their surgeon would have gone through the required number of years of training in the field of cosmetic surgery.

Surgeons with an ABPS board certification typically invest in high quality standards and best medical practices, adopt cutting-edge surgical technologies and techniques, continue their education over the years, and follow the current safety protocols to deliver safe and attractive outcomes to their patients.

Other Factors to Consider

When finding a suitable surgeon to accomplish their nose reshaping requirements, the patient should think about getting referrals from family and friends to know of their experience with a particular nose surgeon.

The patient should go through the website of the surgeon to know more about their professional credentials and their practice. They should also check the online reviews and ratings on the surgeon related to rhinoplasty cosmetic surgical procedure.

During the initial consultation, you may request your surgeon to show you before and after pictures of other patients on whom they have carried out the nose surgery procedures. You may also ask for testimonials of earlier patients to have a better idea of their skills from a patient’s perspective.

Establish a Personal Rapport

A cosmetic surgery procedure is a personal journey for a patient. Therefore, the patient should try to look for a surgeon who makes them feel comfortable and with whom they can share a friendly relationship.

It is important for patients to select a surgeon who helps them feel relaxed and confident, and patiently listens to all their concerns while giving satisfactory and transparent responses.

Personalized Care and Attention

The office of the surgeon should have a very warm and approachable setting for the patients where they are assured of receiving the highest quality and personalized services. The surgeon and their staff should be a strong source of support for the patient during the whole surgical journey.

The patient should have the ease of communication with the surgeon to achieve their desired outcomes in each case. This should start right from the convenience of scheduling appointments and continue through the entire treatment process and beyond.

The core objective of the surgeon should be to deliver effective, safe and outstanding aesthetic results to their patient through rhinoplasty.

Qualities of a Good Nose Surgeon

Some of the essential requirements are:

  • Compassionate, warm, honest, and easy to talk to
  • Willing to offer the patient in-depth information on different aspects of the rhinoplasty procedure
  • Enthusiastic about the idea of making a difference in the life of the patient through cosmetic surgery

Be Frank during Your Consultation

You should be willing to spend adequate time in doing your research on rhinoplasty surgery as well as the background of the surgeon. At the time of your pre-op consultation, be frank with the surgeon about any questions, concerns, and doubts because undergoing a nose surgery procedure is a life-altering decision. Make the most of your initial consultation with the surgeon to ensure that your decision is indeed the most appropriate one.

What is an en bloc Capsulectomy breast implant removal?

shutterstock_95297839-e1580182781100-300x272 What is an en bloc Capsulectomy breast implant removal? Dallas Plastic SurgeonNearly all breast implants used in the United States come with a warranty of at least ten years. Although some implants may last for 15 or 20 years or even more, some others will have to be changed much earlier. This is because breast implants are not a permanent solution.

According to the data analyzed by the manufacturers of implants, nearly 50 percent of breast implants will have to be changed within a period of seven years. Some of the most common reasons for implant problems are damage, rupture, capsular contracture, and infection.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast implant removal to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Capsular Contracture

This refers to the scarring that happens around the breast implant. All breast implants – textured, round-shaped, and smooth, above muscle, below muscle – will form a capsule. This is because implants are an alien entity, so the human body tries to create a protective barrier to the implant by forming a capsule which serves as a wall around it.

The capsule may be something that is flimsy, soft and unnoticeable – just like a film. But in some cases, it may become uncomfortable and firm – just like a hard shell that feels painful as if it contracts and shrinks over time. When an implant grows painful and hard due to capsular contracture, it is not risky in and of itself. However, the discomfort that it may cause will result in the patient seeking an implant removal.

En Bloc Capsulectomy

This surgical procedure is designed to withdraw the implant and the capsule in one piece from the breast tissue. A complete en bloc capsulectomy is an intricate and painstaking surgery that eliminates every bit of the capsular tissue, including the section that adheres to the ribs and the chest wall.

In partial capsulectomy, tiny fragments of the capsule are left behind in the pocket of the breast. The surgical dissection from an en bloc capsulectomy causes irritation to the capsular tissue (that has been left behind) and this leads to fluid production in the area of incisions.

Therefore, following your en bloc capsulectomy surgery, it becomes necessary to place drains to give a passage to the fluid from the breast pocket to exit the body. If a new implant is being placed, it is usually positioned in a new space within the breast tissue.

In other words, if the earlier implant was positioned sub-pectorally, the new implant would be placed pre-pectorally (and vice versa). At times, the pectoral muscle may get severed or damaged. In these cases, it will be essential to repair the muscle before the implant is replaced.

Capsulectomy without Replacement of Implant

For patients who go through breast explantation cosmetic surgery with en bloc capsulectomy technique, but do not want to replace their implant, drains for fluid removal may have to be left inside for a little longer period of time. For customers who have excessively loose breast tissue, mastopexy or a breast lift may be needed as an additional procedure to reposition any residual breast tissue and to form a shapely and youthful breast mound.

How Should the Patients Prepare for Surgery?

You should stop drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes a few days or weeks before your en bloc capsulectomy surgery. Both of these can increase the chances of swelling and bruising. Any herbal supplements and blood thinning medications should be discontinued two weeks prior to surgery. On the day of the procedure, it’s essential to have someone who can drive you back home after the surgery.

Choosing The Best Plastic Surgeon to Remove Your Breast Implants

shutterstock_234815998-300x215 Choosing The Best Plastic Surgeon to Remove Your Breast Implants Dallas Plastic SurgeonThe choice of a surgeon for the breast explantation cosmetic surgery is a decision that will influence the patient’s life for several years to come, if not their entire lifetime. A successful surgery will offer the patient substantial benefits as long as a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon performs it.

The chances of poor results increase in the hands of a relatively inexperienced surgeon. This may lead to additional expense, time as well as disappointment for the patient in the end.

Patients looking for breast implant removal should carefully find an experienced plastic surgeon because working with a lesser qualified surgeon could cause a variety of unwanted health and cosmetic consequences, complications from the surgical procedure, and extra costs related to revision surgeries.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast implant removal to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Your Decision

Once you have chosen a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in breast implant removal procedure, you should freely communicate with them to make sure your surgeon understands your needs and desires. It may be a good idea to ask how many en bloc or total capsulectomy surgeries he or she has performed in the past.

You can also request to speak with one of your surgeon’s past patients who has had en bloc breast implant removal procedure to know about her experience. Lastly, you may ask for implant removal before and after pictures related to the surgeon’s earlier patients.

It is essential that you and your surgeon are on the same page about your goals and expectations from the surgery. To ensure that your surgeon knows your priorities, make a list of all your key points of discussion and carry the list with you to the initial consultation. This will ensure that you do not forget to share any issues, ask any questions or seek clarification for your doubts during the consultation.

Choosing an ABPS Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Breast implant removal patients should preferably try to work with a surgeon who has certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). To acquire this certification, a surgeon must have a certain minimum number of years of surgical training. In addition, they should also go through residency training for a period of at least three years and pass both written and oral examinations.

On the completion of the training, the surgeon will require to submit documentation on all the cases that they have undertaken to the board. The board also requires the surgeons to clear renewal exams every ten years so as to maintain their certification.

ABPS certified plastic surgeons will generally invest in best surgical practices and superior medical standards, take on cutting-edge surgical procedures, pursue continuing education, and keep an eye on the latest safety protocols to deliver safe and outstanding results to their patients.

Bedside Etiquette

Patients should look for a doctor who is friendly and makes her feel completely comfortable at every stage of her breast implant procedure. The patient is likely to be more satisfied with her final results if she chooses a doctor with whom she is able to build a good rapport during the initial consultation.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan receives patients from Dallas, Texas, and nearby areas for breast implant removal.

Choosing The Best Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgeon Near Plano, TX

shutterstock_155419640-200x300 Choosing The Best Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgeon Near Plano, TX Dallas Plastic SurgeonBreast augmentation procedure requires the surgeon to have cutting-edge surgical skills and techniques to develop attractive yet conservative and natural results. The choice of a qualified and experienced surgeon is crucial to the success of a breast enhancement procedure.

Patients should carefully identify the most appropriate surgeon for their needs. At the time of the pre-operative consultation, the patient should ask questions and express any concerns about the surgeon’s practice as well as the breast implant procedure.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides breast implants to patients in Dallas, Texas and surrounding locations.

Combining the Principles of Art and Science

The surgeon should be able to combine the principles of art and science to create aesthetically attractive yet safe and long-lasting results in every cosmetic surgery procedure. They should adopt a holistic treatment approach to address the patient’s needs in a precise and artistic manner and deliver outcomes that are natural-looking, healthy, and aesthetically appealing.

Reviewing the Surgeon’s Website

Patients should review the surgeon’s website before they visit them for a pre-op consultation. The site will serve as a primary source of information regarding the surgeon and their practice, enabling a more productive consultation process.

The patient should openly ask questions or share her concerns during the consultation. A committed surgeon will clear all doubts about the plastic surgery procedure, allowing the patient to make an enlightened decision.

Identifying a Board Certified Surgeon

The ABPS is the only board to be recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. It awards certification based on stringent criteria. Patients working with a board-certified plastic surgeon are guaranteed that the surgeon would have undergone a minimum of three to five years of medical training, with at least two years of dedicated plastic surgery training.

In addition, board-certified plastic surgeons pursue ongoing training to remain abreast of the most innovative techniques in plastic surgery. They also follow the latest safety protocols to provide their patients with the safest and most effective results.

Customized Care and Attention

A breast augmentation procedure is a private journey for the patient, and it is important for her to choose a surgeon who supports her in this journey to achieve her desired appearance. The surgeon should be willing to spend time answering her questions as well as be accessible to her throughout the surgery and recovery processes.

Personal Rapport and Comfort Level

The patient should also pay close attention to how the surgeon and their staff make her feel. There is an inherent risk of complications in any surgical procedure, which may cause obstructions in the patient’s path to accomplishing her desired breast augmentation outcomes.

It is important for her to feel entirely at ease with her cosmetic surgeon and their staff. For this reason, the patient must work with a plastic surgeon whom she trusts and feels comfortable with.

The patient should ask the below-mentioned questions:

  • How does spending time with this plastic surgeon make me feel?
  • Am I comfortable enough to freely ask this surgeon any questions or express any concerns that may arise during the breast augmentation surgery process?
  • Will I be comfortable revealing my entire medical history and behaviors to this plastic surgeon?

Best Skin Rejuvenation Treatments in Dallas, TX

shutterstock_156646856-300x300 Best Skin Rejuvenation Treatments in Dallas, TX Dallas Plastic SurgeonAging causes the skin to undergo textural aberrations such as fine lines, acne scars, and wrinkles, pigmentation changes such as sunspots, freckles, or noticeable blood vessels, spider veins, and sun damage. Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing can be accomplished in multiple ways, ranging from innovative radio frequency based treatments to chemical peels.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides safe and proven skin rejuvenation procedures to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Chemical Peel

The skin is ready for rejuvenation after years of sun and wind exposure, heredity, aging effects, and other aspects. People with such skin may be suitable candidates to undergo a chemical peel.

Also called a skin peel, a chemical peel eliminates the damaged, outer skin layers to the skin to help reduce wrinkles, and even out the skin tone. The use of special chemical solutions can help adjust the depth of the peel to offer the patient the outcomes that they seek.

Lighter peels offer surface exfoliation and help the patient acquire that “healthy glow.” Deeper peels can help eliminate acne scars, deep wrinkles, and uneven pigmentation.

Morpheus8 RF with Microneedling

The Morpheus8 is an ideal solution for people seeking to tighten skin and reduce fat with minimal to no downtime. This is a remodeling device that uses both RF and microneedling to remodel and sculpt the face and body.

The fractional treatment effectively delivers a consistent effect upon the treatment site and is safe for all skin types/tones. Going deep into the skin and fat layer, the technology transforms the aging face and body into a smoother and sleeker appearance. Even better, it can be performed along with PRP for optimal outcomes!

Morpheus8 can be used on the jawline/face/neck (get rid of double chin), as well as various parts of the body, including upper arms (eliminate crepe-like skin), abdomen, back/front of legs (no more wrinkly skin), and knees.

Venus Legacy

Developed by the Venus Concept group, the Venus Legacy delivers multi-polar RF, in combination with pulsed magnetic fields, for non-surgical body sculpting and skin tightening of the neck, body, and face.

This patented 4D technology, combines Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF), VariPulse technology (VP), Multi-Polar Radio Frequency (RF), and RealTime Thermal Feedback, to create a soothing and therapeutic heat matrix over the skin, which leads to a thermal reaction within the body’s tissues.

In turn, this encourages the body’s natural healing process, which helps accomplish tauter skin, softening of wrinkles, and decreased cellulite.

Venus Viva

For people seeking a safe and efficient approach to improving the overall texture of the skin with minimal downtime and perhaps remove stubborn acne scarring or wrinkles, the Venus Viva is an optimal solution.

The combination of NanoFractional Radio Frequency with SmartScan technology helps create a personalized plan for the patient, the Venus Viva safely delivers heat to the deeper skin layers without causing any harm to the surrounding tissues. This process stimulates the body’s ability to naturally restore and regenerate collagen.

Consequently, aberrations such as acne scars and wrinkles are smoothened out while discoloration is corrected for a more uniform skin tone. Even unattractive stretch marks can be reduced while minimizing enlarged pores at the same time.

How long do cosmetic plastic surgery procedures last?

shutterstock_98660858-300x183 How long do cosmetic plastic surgery procedures last? Dallas Plastic SurgeonIf a person is considering cosmetic surgery, an element of their research will usually include how long the healing process takes and what outcomes can be expected. However, the duration of the outcomes should also be a vital consideration.

This will enable the patient to choose a procedure that not only meets their post-op expectations, but also their lifestyle and budget. An equally important consideration in the plastic surgery decision is to choose the right time in one’s life to undergo specific procedures.

Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Farah Naz Khan provides cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures to patients in Dallas, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Factors Affecting Sustainability of Procedures

Some of the key factors impacting the longevity of cosmetic surgery results include:

Breast implants require replacement

Several women request for more substantial breast implants during their initial consultation. But a responsible surgeon will let patients know if their choice is unsuitable for their body type. Although breast implants do not ‘expire,’ they are not guaranteed to sustain for a lifetime.

The average silicone or saline implants may last anywhere from ten to twenty years. Therefore, women considering breast enlargement will need to budget to be able to get their implants replaced.

A healthy lifestyle is important for body contouring

Regardless of the age a person chooses to undergo plastic surgeries, certain surgeries necessitate a permanent change in lifestyle for sustainable outcomes.

Tummy tucks and liposuction must be augmented with a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle to maintain best outcomes. In case the patient is not committed to keeping the weight off, they might regain it in other areas.

Breast augmentation by fat transfer or breast reduction is permanent. However, weight gain or loss can impact breast size. For this reason, the patient will need to maintain a stable, healthy weight post-procedure.

Surgery cannot stop the aging process

Gravity continues to exist even after a procedure, and it will continue to push onto the skin, and over time, soft tissues will surrender to that pressure. A facelift will never appear as ‘fresh’ as it did in the initial month or so after the procedure.

Approximately 20 percent of facelift patients return around seven years after a procedure, seeking revisions or further tightening.

Signs of aging usually first manifest around the eyes, and even after an eye lift, they too will continue to age. Therefore, upper eyelid surgery should be repeated after five to seven years.

Patients can help the outcomes of facial rejuvenation surgery sustain longer by remaining hydrated and using a high SPF sunscreen every day. They should also avoid cigarettes and alcohol as these can cause premature aging as well.

Does the patient’s age make a difference?

The age of a patient is not the determining factor. If a person is healthy and does not suffer from conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, increased blood pressure, or diabetes, they could still be a suitable surgery candidate.

There are some procedures, which if not undertaken before a specific age, will not offer the best or most long-lasting results. In the case of a facelift, for instance, the elasticity of skin decreases with age, which will cause the outcomes to be better if a patient receives the procedure in their forties or fifties, rather than later.
