Have you lost volume in your face over the years? Perhaps you’ve lost a lot of weight recently and with it, you lost the youthful fullness in your face. If so, then you may be a good candidate to undergo facial filler treatments.
Facial Fillers Experience with Dr. Farah Khan
What are Facial Fillers?
Also known as dermal fillers or soft tissue fillers, facial fillers can temporarily plump up the lips, enhance the curves and contours of your face, and soften facial creases and wrinkles. There are many different types of facial fillers and they differ in their composition as well as their intended purpose. Below are listed some of the facial fillers Dr. Khan likes to use in her practice:
*Juvederm®– Made of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring chemical found in your body’s connective tissue, Juvederm® can help diminish wrinkles around your nose and mouth. These include smile lines as well as lines at the corners of your mouth. And if you’ve lost some volume in your lips, it can help plump up your lips to give them a more youthful appearance. Results may last from 4-12 months and can be prolonged with additional injections.
*Restylane®– Also made of hyaluronic acid, Restylane® is ideal for smoothing facial lines, wrinkles, and folds. Smile lines, marionette lines, lipstick lines, and laugh lines can all be targeted for correction. Results may last from 4-12 months and touch-up treatments can help maximize the effects.
*Voluma®- The first and only FDA approved filler to correct age-related volume loss in the mid-face, this hyaluronic acid filler can help enhance your cheeks. It helps create contour and lift, and results can last upwards of a year in most patients.
*Perlane®- Made of larger hyaluronic acid particles, Perlane® is great for filling in deeper wrinkles and folds. It can also help enhance certain facial features like the lips or cheeks. Results may last 6-12 months and subsequent injections can help provide longer lasting results.
*Radiesse®– Made of tiny calcium microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel, these microspheres are similar to minerals that are found naturally in your body. Over time, your body absorbs these microspheres and leaves behind only your own natural collagen. Thus, it is ideal for enhancing facial features and for facial balancing/contouring procedures. Results may last at least a year or more in most patients.
How is the procedure performed?
Dr. Khan will first determine which facial filler is best for you based upon your problem areas and desires. If needed, topical anesthetic may be administered. The injection sites will be cleaned and the filler will be injected into the treatment areas using a very fine needle. The area of injection is usually massaged to allow the filler to evenly disperse.
What to expect after undergoing facial filler treatment?
To help reduce post-treatment swelling, you will be told to apply ice to the treated area. You may still experience some bruising and swelling in the treated areas but this should rapidly improve and you will see the final results soon after! Of course, if you really want to improve the quality of your skin so it looks younger and healthier, combine these treatments with our key skin care products and/or chemical peels…you won’t be disappointed!
